Decarbonisation Roadmap – Summary of Results

Decarbonisation levers were identified and assessed through a cost-benefit analysis. The carbon-reduction potential of each lever has been modelled and is illustrated in the waterfall chart below.
Key Decarbonisation Levers
Procurement of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Carbon Offsets Allows Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions to be attributed to low-carbon energy sources.
Energy Efficiency Improvements
Installation of LED lighting
Automation through lighting and cooling sensors
Electrification of Equipment
Transition from diesel-powered forklifts to electric models to reduce overall GHG emissions

Decarbonisation Focus Areas
Steelaris should prioritise decarbonisation strategies that directly address the identified emissions hotspots. Setting clear emissions-reduction targets will demonstrate strong commitment to sustainability and support long-term climate goals.
Carbon Market Considerations
Carbon market instruments (e.g., RECs and offsets) may be used strategically to supplement internal emissions-reduction efforts and accelerate progress.

Green Building Movement
1. Supply of sustainable steel products Recycled steel: Providing steel made from recycled scrap, reducing the demand for virgin materials and lowering carbon emissions. Low-carbon steel: Supplying steel produced using energy-efficient processes or cleaner energy sources.
Certifications: Offering products that comply with environmental standards (ISO 14001). 2. Supporting green construction projects
Collaboration with contractors and developers: Supplying steel for green building projects that aim for BCA Green Mark or equivalent certifications.
Customized solutions: Offering steel products that reduce waste or improve building efficiency, such as modular or prefabricated steel components.

3. Sustainable operations and practices

Energy efficiency in operations: Using energy-efficient machinery and processes in steel fabrication or storage.

Waste reduction and recycling: Recycling scrap steel and minimizing manufacturing waste.

Responsible logistics: Optimizing transportation routes and using bulk shipments to reduce carbon emissions.

4. Future initiatives

Green product development: Sourcing and offering low-carbon, high-strength steel alternatives to support sustainable construction.

Partnerships for innovation: Collaborating with building developers and architects to design steel solutions that contribute to net-zero or energy-efficient buildings.

Reporting and transparency: Tracking and reporting carbon footprint from steel production and supply chain to support green building claims.

ESG Strategy Framework

This project was created to help the client visualize the proposed alterations and additions (A&A) to the existing warehouse. The 3D model includes a new extension and evaluates the feasibility of mobilizing a gantry crane, which is a key aspect the customer is eager to explore.
